Because diesel engines run at higher compression ratios and generate more heat, they require different types of oil and cooling systems than gasoline engines. Diesel engine oil contains additional detergents and anti-wear additives to handle the increased stress and contamination from combustion. Using the wrong type of oil can lead to sludge buildup, increased wear, and premature engine failure.
Similarly, the cooling system in a diesel engine works harder to maintain optimal temperatures. Many diesel engines have larger radiators, additional coolant capacity, and even secondary cooling systems for turbochargers and EGR valves. Regular coolant flushes and system inspections are essential for preventing overheating and extending engine life.
